Thanks. Very timely. I noticed that I was feeling a need to share things so much that it felt more like a duty than a gift. Lately I have been letting things go and you put the feeling into words for me.
This is lovely and makes me think of a book I read a while ago called The Circle. It was in a world where it was considered a moral duty to share every single moment and cool thing you do. It makes me think about deleting instagram and not sharing pictures of my trips with anyone.
Also these lyrics from Beans on Toast:
"And did you know your great grand daddy once smiled at the moon
But there won't be any footage of it on YouTube
And once upon a time when someone saw something beautiful
They watched it with their eyes not through the screen of a telephone
A picture might be worth a thousand pixels
But there's still some things you can enjoy without your log in details"
I love this as a person with a company that helps people focus on centering joy this is absolutely what we need so much more of.
Thank you for this.
