The Sky Doesn’t Apologize for Its Weather
Letter Ø12: You don’t owe the world a sunny version of yourself.
Here’s something I want to remind both of us:
You’re allowed to have weather.
Not moods. Not “episodes.” Not attitudes.
Weather.
Cloudy. Clear. Overcast. Torrential. Soft light at 6:42 p.m. on a Thursday.
No forecast is permanent.
No emotional sky lasts forever.
And none of it makes you broken.
The Pressure to Be Forecast-Friendly
Have you noticed how often we apologize for our internal weather?
“Sorry I’m off today.”
“Sorry, I’m just tired.”
“Sorry I’m being quiet.”
“Sorry I’m not my usual self.”
But what if your “usual self” includes all of this?
The fog. The lightning. The stillness. The rain.
The sky doesn’t explain itself.
It doesn’t ask, “Am I being too much today?”
It just is.
So can you.
Try This: The Weather Check-In
Right now, name your inner weather, no fixing, just noticing.
Is it cloudy?
Windy?
Calm but grey?
Full-on thunderstorm?
Write it down or whisper it to yourself.
Then ask:
“Can I let this pass without making it personal?”
Because it’s not.
You are not your storm.
You are the sky it moves through.
What Happens When You Stop Apologizing
Something soft unfolds.
You stop editing your face.
You stop explaining your energy.
You stop using up all your light trying to appear bright.
And in that pause, something holy appears:
Acceptance.
Not resignation. Not defeat.
Just the deep exhale of being enough even when you're overcast.
Tiny Prompt for Today
“What version of myself have I been apologizing for lately?”
Then try this:
“Today, I will let that part of me exist without explanation.”
Try it in one small moment. One quiet hour. One skipped apology.
We’re not made to be predictable.
We’re not made to always radiate.
Sometimes the most honest thing you can do
is sit quietly in your weather… and let it move.
– Mindful Letters
P.S. The clouds don’t mean it’s over. Sometimes they mean it’s beginning.
I love this and it’s so very true thank you for this reminder ✨
I just wrote a small post about emotional weather! Love this, it helps me. Thank you 🙏🏼
